ICC Chair Jay Shah to Attend IOC Session in Lausanne, Pushes for Cricket's Olympic Dream

ICC Chair Jay Shah to Attend IOC Session in Lausanne, Pushes for Cricket's Olympic Dream

ICC chairman Jay Shah is all set for a high-level meeting on 30th January at Lausanne, at the Olympic House. The session is to be held during the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session. What it aims to do is push for cricket to become a part of the 2032 Olympics. For this, Shah has been striving hard, and in fact, last month saw him in Brisbane furthering the agenda. There, he met Brisbane Olympic Organising Committee chief Cindy Hook and Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley, cementing cricket's international appeal.

While in Brisbane, Shah did not miss the opportunity to watch India's third Test against Australia. He watched the match from the stands and then visited the press box, where he had very interesting conversations with cricket icons Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border, further demonstrating his commitment to the game at every level.

Former BCCI secretary Shah was an integral player in making cricket a part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Being the ICC Chair, he talked about the game's bright future as it looks to prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games, aiming to make the game more accessible and enjoyable for the spectators worldwide.

Cricket's Olympic Return: A 128-Year Wait Ends in Los Angeles 2028

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it will host its session in Lausanne in October 2024. According to the details, the session will take place on January 30, 2025, and the candidates for the IOC presidency will make their presentations.

In return, for sports lovers a major highlight shall be the arrival of cricket as a sport featured in the Olympics in 2028, organized in Los Angeles, USA. That will see cricket return to the Olympics after 128 years with this sport appearing last in the Olympics of the year 1900. For men and women, the excitements to be brought home are the male and female cricket matches.
