Hasan Ali penalised for PCB Code of Conduct breach
Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali has been fined 10% of his match fee for violating the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Code of Conduct during the game against Lahore Qalandars. The pacer was penalized under Article 2.5, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his or her dismissal during a match”.
What happened?
Hasan admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions, which meant there was no formal hearing.
The incident occurred on the last ball of the penultimate over, when the fast bowler dismissed Lahore’s Haseebullah Khan. This was Hasan’s first and only wicket of the game. Karachi eventually came out as the better side in what was a low-scoring game.
Match summary
Setting a target of just 129 runs, Lahore Qalandars relied on their bowling to bail them out. This would have been a safe route had it not been for Haris Rauf’s costly four overs, in which he conceded 45 runs for just one wicket.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of the bowlers as he took four wickets for eighteen runs. Apart from these two bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman was the only bowler to get a wicket.
Needing 9 runs in the last over, after a ball tampering-related penalty knocked five runs off the target, Karachi’s Abbas Afridi struck a four and a six to take his side home. Karachi is now at the top of the table with two wins in as many games.
