Hasan, Aamer Jamal channel their all-round skills to help Chattogram ease past Rajshahi
Hasan Nawaz would definitely have taken many fans by surprise when he picked up a wicket against Rajshahi Warriors in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The top-order batter had a total of six wickets in his entire career before he dismissed the Warriors’ captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, to make it his seventh overall and second in T20s.
Aamer Jamal’s three-wicket haul
Joining him, Pakistan pacer Aamer Jamal, who was the wrecker-in-chief against the Royals, grabbed three wickets at the bargain of just 23 runs in four overs. Both Pakistan bowlers, along with the rest of their Chattogram teammates, decimated the Royals for 128 runs.
Chasing the total, Chattogram lost four wickets within the powerplay, but Mahedi Hasan and Hasan Nawaz stitched together a slow but steady partnership of 40 off 40 balls. After Mahedi departed, Hasan was joined by Asif Ali, who took on Mahedi’s role effectively. The Pakistan batter scored 27 off 25 balls. By the time this partnership broke with Asif’s departure, Chattogram were just 26 runs away from victory.
Player of the Match: Hasan Nawaz
Those 26 runs came at the expense of three more wickets. Hasan Nawaz kept standing till the end and deservedly scored the winning runs. For his all-round performance, Hasan was awarded the Player of the Match.
With this victory, Chattogram retain their top spot on the table. They have won five out of their seven games, becoming the first team to get to 10 points this season.
