Haris Rauf Fined by ICC, PCB Plans Challenge; BCCI Also to Appeal SKY’s Charge

Haris Rauf Fined by ICC, PCB Plans Challenge; BCCI Also to Appeal SKY’s ChargeThe Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to challenge the sanction given to Haris Rauf by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Haris was fined 30% of his match fee because of his aggressive behaviour during the Super Four match in Dubai. Earlier, some reports said that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi would pay the fine himself, but now it seems the PCB will oppose the ICC’s decision.

According to Geo News, the PCB will appeal on behalf of Haris Rauf after he was punished for his actions and abusive language during the India vs Pakistan Super Fours match on September 21. He had a verbal argument with India’s openers, made gestures towards fans near the boundary and was reported for using bad language. His ‘6-0’ and ‘plane’ gestures were also seen as political, aimed at taking a dig at Indian soldiers.

Meanwhile, Farhan, who celebrated his half-century in the same match with a “gunfire celebration” using his bat, was let off with just a formal warning by ICC match referee Richie Richardson.

BCCI Plans to Appeal Against SKY’s Charge

At the same time, reports say that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will also appeal against the decision on India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav. SKY was charged for his post-match comments after India’s group-stage win on September 14, where he dedicated the win to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and the armed forces.

The final decision on these appeals is expected only after the tournament ends on September 28. Earlier, it was said that the ICC had not taken any action against Suryakumar. India and Pakistan will meet for the third time this month when they face each other in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday.
