Faf du Plessis Appointed Delhi Capitals Vice-Captain for IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals have announced that Faf du Plessis will be their vice-captain for the upcoming IPL season. The team shared the news this afternoon through a post on their official X account.

Faf du Plessis, the former South African captain, led Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024. Due to his age and inconsistent performances, RCB decided to release him into the mega auction pool.

Delhi Capitals bought former RCB captain Faf du Plessis for INR 2 Crores in last year's auction. A few days after naming Axar Patel as their captain, the Capitals announced that Du Plessis would be the team's vice-captain for the upcoming season.

"You mean right now? I'm at home, where else would I be? Yes, that's true, I'm vice-captain of DC and I'm very excited. Delhi's been great, the boys have been fantastic, definitely feel happy and I feelady," du Plessis expressed in a video shared by the franchise.

Faf du Plessis has played for teams like Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. With his talent and experience, the Proteas star is expected to make a big impact in the upcoming season.

South Africa's star batter Faf du Plessis has had an impressive IPL career, playing 145 matches and scoring 4571 runs at an average of 35.99 and a strike rate of 136.37 from 138 innings. He is expected to open the batting alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk for Delhi Capitals and will also support Axar Patel in the team's leadership.
