England vs India U-19 Series: England U19 Squad Announced for India U19 Tour Starting June 27
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has named a 15-member squad for the England Under-19 team ahead of their upcoming tour of India. The young side will take on India Under-19 in a series that includes five one-day matches and two multi-day games, starting from June 27.
Thomas Rew will be leading the England Under-19 team as captain. He’s the younger brother of James Rew, who currently captains England A. Among all the players picked, only Isaac Mohammed has yet to play at the senior level. One familiar name in the squad is Rocky Flintoff, son of former cricketer Andrew Flintoff, who now coaches the England Lions. Rocky continues to be a part of the U-19 setup.
The England U-19 and India U-19 cricket teams are all set to play a series that includes five one-day matches and two four-day games. The matches will be held from June 27 to July 23. During this time, the India U-19 team, captained by Ayush Mhatre, will be in England along with the senior men’s team and the Indian women’s team, as all three teams will be touring the country at the same time.
“We’ve selected an exciting squad for the ODI series. We have players who have a variety of white-ball skills and predominantly available for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the winter. India Under-19s will provide a great challenge this summer and it’s a great opportunity for the boys to perform as a team and individually,” England’s U19 head coach Mike Yardy said.
