Durban Super Giants Sign Liam Livingstone for SA20 2025-26, Replacing Devon Conway

The Durban Super Giants have already had a mid-season replacement lined up before the critical juncture in the season, with England all-rounder Liam Livingstone joining in as a replacement for New Zealand batter Devon Conway. Durban Super Giants are currently standing mid-table and have roped in Livingstone to make it into the play-offs.

The Durban Super Giants have released Conway for the rest of the season in the SA20 due to national commitments. The left-hand opening bat has been picked in the New Zealand squad for their white-ball tour of India that features three ODIs and five T20Is between 11 and 31 January.

Liam Livingstone is an English all-rounder, not Australian, known for explosive batting (right-handed) and leg/off-spin bowling, playing for England, Lancashire, and various global T20 teams, including a stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL, alongside major achievements like winning the 2022 T20 World Cup and being MVP of The Hundred, holding records for fastest England T20I fifty/century, and scoring big in leagues like IPL, BBL, and The Hundred.

Livingstone is among the big destructive middle-order batsmen in the format, considering his overall T-20 career strike-rate of 145.06. The England all-rounder was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction for the year 2026 at an incredible INR 13 crores. Nope, he went under the hammer for the first time without being roped into any franchise.

Durban's Super Giants is a South African professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that was formed in 2022 and competes in the SA20 league.

Livingstone had a decent domestic performance in the title-winning campaign of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025, aggregating 112 runs in eight matches. Since his good show in the IPL, his performances in white-ball cricket have been quite good. He captained Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, finishing the tournament as their leading run-getter with 241 runs and also picking wickets. Alongside that came a good showing in the T20 Blast.

After five bouts, the position of the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 points table stands at fourth position. They have one victory, two defeats, two no results, and eight points in their bag, but trail the Joburg Super Kings, the Paarl Royals, and the Sunrisers East Cape. The DSG team will meet the Pretoria Capitals on January 7 at Kingsmead.
