CSK Pacer Khaleel Ahmed Signs With Essex for Remainder of County Championship 2025
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Khaleel Ahmed has signed with Essex for the remainder of the ongoing County Championship season. The move was officially announced by Essex Cricket through a post on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming the left-arm quick will be part of their squad for the final stretch of the tournament.
Khaleel Ahmed, a left-arm fast-medium bowler from Tonk, Rajasthan will be available for Essex until the end of the 2025 season, featuring in both the Rothesay County Championship and the Metro Bank One Day Cup. He was part of India’s Under-19 squad for the 2016 World Cup and has since gone on to represent the senior national team in 29 matches 11 ODIs and 18 T20Is. Since making his ODI debut in 2018 against Hong Kong, Khaleel has picked up 15 wickets at an average of 31.00 with best figures of 3/13. Recently, he was in England with the India A squad, where he impressed with a four-wicket haul in the second unofficial Test against the England Lions.

Strong Domestic Record Across Formats Backs His Essex Call-Up
Khaleel Ahmed has been a regular performer for Rajasthan in India’s domestic List A circuit, playing 63 matches and taking 92 wickets at an average of 27.92, with best figures of 4/35. He has also been a solid contributor in first-class cricket, featuring in 20 matches and picking up 56 wickets at an average of 27.67, including a five-wicket haul with best figures of 5/37.
Though yet to debut in Test cricket for India, Khaleel will be hoping that his stint with Essex helps him build a stronger case for a spot in the national red-ball squad. With experience in both formats and recent success in English conditions, this opportunity could prove to be an important stepping stone in his career.
