CSK Complaint to BCCI Over RCB DJ Controversy at Chinnaswamy Stadium

CSK Complaint to BCCI Over RCB DJ Controversy at Chinnaswamy Stadium

[ Poll: vwGm4kL3 ]

Chennai Super Kings complained to the Board of Control for Cricket in India about the DJ’s behavior during their April 5 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The five-time champions have objected to both the choice of music and certain remarks made over the public address system during the game. At the centre of the issue is the playing of the track “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney”, a meme-associated tune often linked to South Indian stereotypes.

CSK believe the timing and context of the song, played before their innings, crossed the line. Confirming the development, a senior IPL official told IndianExpress, “We have received a complaint from CSK and are looking into it.“

“The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it,” he said.

CSK Raise Complaint Over DJ Remarks and Stereotypical Song During RCB Clash

The Chennai Super Kings also complained that the DJ made comments after their players got out during the match. The team said a DJ’s job is to entertain the crowd, not make fun of or target players from the other team.

“They are not there to undermine the rivals or insult them,” a CSK official said.

This song has inflamed the RCB/CSK rivalry as this was done last summer too when RCB’s Jitesh Sharma sang the song before a game in Chennai, only for CSK’s DJ to play it when he got out. After this incident, CSK created rules to reduce such targeted remarks in the future. Matches between RCB and CSK have had an increased intensity and when RCB defeated CSK in IPL 2026, RCB’s social media took a swipe at Dhoni with a post made during the wicket keeping of Sharma.

RCB captioned: “Ek tha jo stump ke peeche se game badal deta tha.” While the post was made to compliment Jitesh’s glove work, it was a direct nod to Dhoni, who was missing the game due to an injury.
