China Starts Developing National Cricket Teams in Sydney with Support from Cricket NSW and Lee Germon

China Starts Developing National Cricket Teams in Sydney with Support from Cricket NSW and Lee GermonThe Chinese Cricket Association has been working with Australia's Cricket New South Wales (NSW) and Sydney Cricket Club to improve their cricket skills. According to the reports from the cricketnsw.com.au. shared that they have provided well-structured training camps that include match strategies, fitness training, skill development, nutrition guidance, cultural exchange, and practice matches.

The former New Zealand captain Lee Germon informed that a group of around 50 Chinese players and staff have been in Sydney for the past two months. During their stay, the players have also had the chance to watch top-level cricket matches, including the international Women's Ashes matches and Australia's Big Bash League (BBL).

The Sydney Cricket Club is set to offer more training for the Chinese players. Soon, we might see Chinese cricketers playing in New South Wales Premier Cricket through the Sydney Cricket Club.

Cricket New South Wales (NSW) CEO Lee Germon shared that their goal is to support China’s journey to the Olympics.

"We are happy to partner with Sydney Cricket Club and build this relationship with the Chinese Cricket Association. Over the past few months, we have worked with China’s men’s and women’s teams, and we take pride in our ability to provide high-performance training. We look forward to growing this partnership and helping China qualify for the Olympics." Germon said.

A spokesperson from the Chinese Cricket Association also expressed their excitement about the collaboration.

"We are proud to partner with Cricket NSW and Sydney Cricket Club to fast-track cricket development in China. Our national teams have learned a lot during their time in Sydney, and we are excited to explore more opportunities with CNSW and SCC in the future."

Chinese Training Base in Sydney

The Chinese men's and women's national cricket teams have been training in Sydney with top-class facilities at Cricket Central and Bankstown, Drummoyne Oval, and Sydney University, which is owned by the Sydney Cricket Club.

The Cricket NSW, Sydney Cricket Club, and the Chinese Cricket Association have signed a five-year agreement, that allows Australian experts to coach and train Chinese players to improve their cricketing standards.

Sydney Cricket Club Chairman Rod Chapman believes that sharing cricket knowledge internationally is the way forward.

"Sydney Cricket Club is not limited by borders. While we focus on growing cricket in Sydney, we also recognize the game’s expansion worldwide. We have the resources and passion to support others while creating new opportunities for our players and members."

With cricket set to return to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, this partnership could play a big role in helping China make its mark in world cricket.
