BCCI Investigates India U19 Performance and Behaviour Following Asia Cup Defeat

BCCI Investigates India U19 Performance and Behaviour Following Asia Cup Defeat

[ Poll: pyPmpQLB ]

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will look into how the India U19 team played in the Asia Cup after losing to Pakistan. Ayush Mhatre and the team were beaten by Pakistan by 191 runs in the match. While Pakistan is ecstatic after the win, Pakistan has dubbed India’s behaviour as unethical through the tournament.

Cricbuzz reports that the BCCI will check how the team played after losing to Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup. This decision was made in the Apex Council meeting on December 22. As per the report, the BCCI will mot only seek answers from the team manager but will also question head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and captain Ayush Mhatre.

“The decision was taken at an Apex Council meeting held online on Monday (December 22) evening. The BCCI will seek a report from the team manager and is also set to speak with head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and captain Ayush Mhatre,” the report stated.

BCCI to Review India U19 Performance After Heavy Loss to Pakistan Amid Ethics Concerns

Former Pakistan star and U19 coach said India acted unethically. He also said he had told his team to celebrate respectfully.

“We have played against Indian teams that respected cricket. The way the young boys behaved was disrespectful towards the sport. India’s behaviour regarding the game was not good, and the Indian team’s conduct in cricket was unethical,” Sarfaraz said.

India U19s’ trouble may have begun with one poor choice. After winning the toss, captain Ayush Mhatre chose to bowl first on a Dubai pitch that seemed perfect for batting. And then Pakistan opener Sameer Minhas went on to capitalise, scoring 172 from 113 deliveries, taking his side to a mammoth 347/8 in 50 overs. That was enough to secure a 191-run win over India, as Pakistan U19 won their first-ever Asia Cup trophy.
