Jemimah Rodrigues to Lead Delhi Capitals as Captain in WPL 2026
After the World Cup performances, there is a new twist in WPL 2026. India women’s cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues is soon going to be appointed as the new captain of Delhi Capitals in Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026). The cricketer was retained by Delhi Capitals at a price of Rs 2.2crore in preparation for WPL 2026, which is going to begin from January 8 onwards as part of the fourth season of this tournament.
According to Cricbuzz, the official confirmation regarding Jemimah being appointed as the new DC captain will be announced on December 23 (Tuesday). The reins will now be handed to Rodrigues by Lanning, who was released by the side earlier this year in the mega auction.
The team has been the runner-up in all three seasons so far and has not been able to win the trophy yet. “We are extremely clear that we want an Indian as our captain. We are made up in our minds,” DC co-owner Parth Jindal had stated in the aftermath of the WPL 2026 auction.
