BCCI Elections: Devajit Saikia Set to Become Secretary, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia Likely Treasurer

There are changes in the BCCI as well. Jay Shah has resigned from his position as the secretary and thus the position of the secretary is vacant. Also, the position of treasurer is empty after Ashish Shelar has been appointed as the Minister for Information Technology of Maharashtra.
As per the reports, Devajit Saikia has nominated his name for the secretary post while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has applied for the treasurer post. Both the candidates are likely to take charge in the upcoming elections since they are contesting unopposed.
By BCCI rules, elections for any vacant position should take place not more than 45 days after a key official has left office and such elections are crucial for the board.

BCCI Elections Scheduled for January 12
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) elections are set to be held on the 12th of January. The present Joint Secretary and an executive member of the Assam Cricket Association, Devajit Saikia is most likely going to take over as a Secretary. This comes after Jay Shah has stepped down to take an ICC position. Besides Saikia’s expected promotion, a new Joint Secretary will also be elected.
In the case of the Treasurer, the nomination has been received from Prabhtej Singh Bhatia from Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh. This means that since there is no one to challenge Bhatia for the position, the Treasurer's seat was expected to empty after the Ashish position. Shelar was appointed in the Maharashtra cabinet as the Minister for Information Technology. Such developments reflect shifts in BCCI’s leadership ahead of the elections which are open and free from any controversy.
