Bangladesh Names Preliminary Squad for Asia Cup 2025 and Netherlands T20I Series
Bangladesh has named their preliminary squad for the Asia Cup 2025 set for September. The 25-player squad will be led by Litton Das and will kick off preparations with a fitness camp later this week. To gear up for the tournament, the team will also face the Netherlands in a three-match series in August. One surprise in the squad is the return of wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan, who had been out of favor for some time. On the other hand, despite putting up strong performances in domestic cricket, all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain has once again been left out.
Mosaddek Hossain has also not been selected for the upcoming Bangladesh A team’s tour. Meanwhile, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz keeps his place in the preliminary Asia Cup squad, despite struggling with form in recent T20I series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
As for Nurul Hasan and a few others, they, along with Mahidul Islam, Saif Hassan, Hasan Mahmud, and Naim Sheikh, will miss most of the preparation camp. They’re heading to Darwin, Australia for the Top End T20 Series 2025.

The Bangladesh team will leave for Australia on August 9 to play in the Top End T20 Series, where they’ll also take part in a four-day match against South Australia afterward. This is their second time in the series having made their debut in 2024. The Netherlands team is expected to arrive on August 26 and the three T20I matches will be played in Sylhet on August 30, September 1 and September 3 with the Dutch team heading back home on September 4.
Bangladesh is coming off their first-ever T20I series win in Sri Lanka and will look to build on that momentum heading into the Asia Cup next month. The team will begin preparations with a training camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on August 6.
After the camp, the squad will split, with some players, including Nurul Hasan, joining the Bangladesh A team for their tour to Australia. Bangladesh will play three T20Is against the Netherlands before heading to the UAE for the Asia Cup. In the group stage, they’ll face Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.
