Babar Azam shatters record books with the fastest PSL hundred
One thing people love more than a hero is seeing a hero fail. Green Goblin clearly had not seen how a Babar Azam century contradicts that belief.
The vindication that Babar has found this PSL season might not have been what many expected, but it is definitely what fans in Pakistan needed. There has been a sudden upturn in the belief that he is not a match for the shortest format of the game.
Whether Babar keeps that notion alive by replicating his performances on bigger stages is beside the point. What matters here is that Babar was never the hero that those who loved him wanted to see fail, fall, and die trying.
Babar rewrites the records
He notched up his 12th T20 century against Quetta Gladiators last night and, as is often the case with him, he tends to do grand things in an even grander fashion. It was the fastest century in the league this season, coming off 52 balls. Across his innings, Babar played just one dot ball.
He is also now part of the most 100-run partnerships in T20s, equalling Virat Kohli’s record.
He now averages more than 100 while striking at 143 in this PSL season. The numbers and milestones do not redefine the stature Babar has already built for himself. They do, however, offer a reminder that his slump might not have been a decline, just a pause.
