Apollo Tyres Replaces Dream11 as Team India’s Jersey Sponsor Till 2027, Paying ₹4.5 Crore Per Match
Apollo Tyres is now the new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team. The company has signed a deal that will run till 2027. This comes after BCCI ended its contract with Dream11 because of the ban on betting apps.
As part of the new deal, Apollo Tyres will pay ₹4.5 crore for every match, which is more than the ₹4 crore Dream11 was paying earlier. With India playing a busy schedule of matches every year, this partnership will give Apollo Tyres a lot of global exposure. It is also seen as one of the biggest and most valuable sponsorship deals in Indian cricket in recent years.
Right now, the Indian men’s team does not have a jersey sponsor in the ongoing Asia Cup. The women’s team is also playing without a sponsor in their ODI series against Australia. It is still not confirmed if the women’s team will have the new sponsor’s logo on their jerseys for the Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30.
Dream11 has stepped away as the Indian cricket team’s title sponsor from the men’s Asia Cup. This happened after the government banned real money gaming under the new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act. Over the years, Dream11 and My11Circle had together contributed almost ₹1,000 crore to the BCCI through their team and IPL sponsorships.
Fantasy Gaming Companies Hit by New Law
The new law banning real money gaming has hit the earnings of fantasy gaming companies in a big way. According to the act, no one is allowed to offer or promote online money gaming services, and even advertising such platforms is not permitted. This move led to Dream11 ending its sponsorship deal with the Indian cricket team creating a gap that Apollo Tyres has now stepped in to fill.
On the field, the Indian men’s team has had a great start to their Asia Cup campaign with wins over both the UAE and Pakistan. Their next challenge will be against Oman on September 19. The women’s team, however, had a tough beginning to their ODI series, losing the opener to world champions Australia in Mullanpur. They’ll now be looking to bounce back in the second match on September 17.
