The emotional moment was captured by those present in the backroom of the MCG. Nitish Kumar Reddy's family had the chance to meet Sunil Gavaskar after his son's sensational hundred at the MCG. Observing his son create history at the Boxing Day Test on Saturday, December 28, Nitish's father went tearful after being overwhelmed with tears of joy. Staying in MCG, the century maiden by his son left Nitish's father speechless. Nitish had dedicated his first Test century to his father.
Former India all-roundеr Irfan Pathan also met Nitish's father on the sidelines of the Test match and praised him for being a humble person while commеntating on Star Sports. He acknowledged the family's incredible sacrifices in supporting Nitish's cricketing ambitions and credited them for playing a crucial role in his success.
"My father left his job for me and there has been a lot of sacrifice behind my story. One day, I saw him crying because of the financial problems we were facing, and I was like, 'this is not how you can be'. Then I got serious. " I gave my first jersey to him and saw the happiness in his face," Nitish said in a video posted by the BCCI.
Nitish's father, Mutyala Reddy, made his son's dream come into reality. In 2016, he quit a job at Hindustan Zinc to pursue his son's cricketing career more seriously. It was a great struggle with sleepless nights, skipped meals, and more compromises than he could take. But all those things suddenly became worth it while Mutyala stood up in the stands, staring at his son's bat reach the century mark.
