Abhishek Sharma Fined 25% Match Fee for Dissent in SRH vs KKR IPL 2026 Clash

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaking IPL rules during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. For the unversed, SRH registered their first win of IPL 2026, with a thumping 65-run win, even as Abhishek played his part, smashing 48 runs off just 21 deliveries with four fours and as many sixes. But his dismissal was contentious and the batter showed his dissent towards the umpire's decision.

Varun Chakaravarthy took a diving catch, but it looked like the ball may have touched the ground. This happened in the ninth over of the innings. However, the third umpire deemed the catch to be legal which the batter disagreed and expressed his disappointment while walking off. The southpaw has been charged of Level 1 offence and he accepted the sanction as well.

Abhishek Sharma, an all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point for breaking IPL rules during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday.

"He admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the official release from the IPL stated.

It was almost a perfect match for the Orange Army. They batted really well and scored 226 runs. The openers gave a strong start, and later Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy helped the team cross 220, even though they lost some wickets in the middle overs. In response, KKR were no match to SRH bowlers at all as they succumbed to a heavy defeat after getting bowled out for just 161 runs in 16 overs.
