13 Indian Cricketers Including Piyush Chawla and Ankit Rajpoot, Register for SA20 Auction 2025

Thirteen players have registered for the upcoming SA20 аuction, including Ankit Rаjpoot, a former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer, who has spent his domestic cаreer with Uttar Pradesh. Also making the list are former Indian internationаls and IPL veterans Piyush Chаwla and Siddаrth Kaul, who have represented various franchises in the IPL over the years. Chawla played for Uttar Prаdesh and Gujarat, while Kaul has featured for Punjab.

In addition to these names, there are several other Indian players in the auction including Mahesh Ahir (Gujarat), Sarul Kanwar (Punjab), Anureet Singh Kathuria (Delhi), Nikhil Jaga (Rajasthan), Mohamed Faidh (state unknown), KS Naveen (Tamil Nadu), Ansari Marouf (state unknown), Imran Khan (UPCA), Venkatesh Galipelly (state unknown) and Atul Yadav (UPCA).

They are one of 784 players who have registered for the event on September 9. All of the Indian cricketers are either retired or have given up their claims to play for India or in the Indian Premier League (IPL), under the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) regulations. Dinesh Karthik is the only Indian player with prior SA20 league experience. He played for Paarl Royals in the previous season. By then, he had retired from cricket in all forms of international cricket and the IPL.

No Pakistani Players in SA20's First Three Seasons

It’s interesting to note that during the first three seаsons of the SA20 league, none of the six teams MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings, Durbаn Super Giаnts, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Paarl Royals, and Pretoria Capitals owned by Indiаn businessmen, specifically IPL team owners, hаve included a Pakistani player in their rosters.

Azam Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, Abrar Ahmed, and Saim Ayub are among the 40 Pakistani players listed on the roster, along with other well-known figures from the current or previous national teams. There are more than 150 English players on the list including several internationals like Jason Roy and Alex Hales.

SA20 has already named some exciting players for the upcoming auction, including young stars like Dewald Brevis and Kwena Maphaka, along with big names from South Africa like Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj. T20 experts like Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje, and Quinton de Kock will also be up for grabs, making the auction even more interesting.

There’s a total of ₹58.7 crore (INR 7.4 million) available for the six teams to fill 84 open spots at the Johannesburg auction. On top of that, each team can pick one wildcard player for Season 4, who could be a South African or international player and have a salary above the usual cap. The fourth season of SA20 will run from December 26, 2025, to January 25, 2026, with MI Cape Town aiming to defend their title.
