Toss Update
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Rajat Patidar (RCB Captain): "We have decided to bowl first. The wicket looks decent. It is a hard surface. I think, bowling first, we will look to restrict them as early as possible and go for it. It feels amazing to lead RCB. There are some great players in the squad. It is a great opportunity to learn from them.
The preparation has been good. Last 10-15 days, we have been preparing well. The boys are feeling good. I am pretty much confused about the playing XI with the impact player rule. We are going with three pacers and two spinners."
Ajinkya Rahane (KKR Captain): "Feeling really good. First of all it is an honour for me to lead this wonderful franchise. Really looking forward to this game and also the season. Yeah, the core group remains the same. We have played really good cricket last season and we want to continue the same this season as well. Weather is something you cannot control so we want to play good cricket tonight.
Absolutely, everyone have settled in pretty quickly. There is nothing much to say or do, we have given them all the freedom to play their natural game and also play as a unit. Yes, we were looking to field as well. We are going with a combination of 3 fast bowlers and 2 spinners."

Phil Salt Embraces New Challenge: Ready to Shine in IPL 2025!
Phil Salt: "Getting used to the new jersey to be honest. New year, new team, you start again. As a franchise cricketer, you find yourself all over the world really. Lots of fun memories and a lot of good guys in that dressing room but when it is time for the first ball tonight, it is game on.
I am not a numbers person. Obviously they can give you a confidence booster but sometimes they can be very deceptive as well. I think it is more about confidence.
(On change in role of openers in powerplay) Yeah, it definitely has. It is quite a big thing now. Last year, was I feel sort of when the aggression went up. The impact sub has lengthened the batting order. I feel it is a role where you got to take the game by the scruff of the neck. (On what makes IPL special) Coming out here, the fans, it is an experience that you don't get anywhere else in the world. That makes it really, really special. As a player, you always want to play against the best and in the best settings, that's all here.
(on RCB) The fans have been magnificent from what I have seen so far. They have been at every practice session. While getting on and off the bus, they have been wild. Very grateful for that but yeah, that took a bit to get used to. Obviously, all the best to Rajat. He looks like a good guy and got a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully, we have a lot of success under him."
