Sunil Gavaskar Issues Warning Ahead of Australia Tests for Kohli and Sharma

Renowned former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar has expressed that the upcoming Test series against Australia could play a pivotal role in determining the future of senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. After India's disappointing 0-3 Test series loss to New Zealand, doubts have emerged regarding the performances of these star cricketers. Gavaskar highlighted that the series against Australia presents an important opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills, potentially leading to a transition phase for some senior players.

In an interview with India Today, Gavaskar stated, "I think it could be a tour which could decide a lot of futures. And I'm hoping that that question, you know, solved itself in Australia because they are, at an age and at a stage in their careers, where there will be a second ring of which we will be looking to get an opportunity."

According to a report by PTI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will assess the outcome of the Australia tour to address the dismal performance against New Zealand and implement a structured phase-out plan before the next World Test Championship cycle.

The five-match Test series against Australia might mark the final opportunity for at least two out of the four senior players - Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
