Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe 2025 T20I Series: Winner, Player of the Series, Player of the Match, Most Runs & Wicket-Taker

Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe 2025 T20I Series: Winner, Player of the Series, Player of the Match, Most Runs & Wicket-TakerKamil Mishara’s unbeaten 73 helped Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe by eight wickets in Harare on Sunday and take the T20 series 2-1. Zimbabwe batted first after losing the toss and scored 191 for eight. In reply, Sri Lanka chased the target comfortably, finishing the game with 14 balls to spare.

Kamil Mishara and Kusal Perera put together an unbeaten 117-run partnership for the third wicket as Sri Lanka completed a white-ball double, following their 2-0 win in the recent ODI series against Zimbabwe. After scoring just 35 runs in his previous four T20I innings, 24-year-old Mishara shone with a match-winning 73 hitting three sixes and six fours off 43 balls.

Mishara and experienced Kusal Perera came together when Sri Lanka was 76 for 2 after 7.1 overs and quickly took control of the game, leaving behind the disappointment of being all out for 80 in the previous match. Perera played well alongside Mishara, scoring an unbeaten 46 off 26 balls, including two sixes and four fours, helping Sri Lanka move smoothly towards the target.

For Zimbabwe, wicketkeeper Tadiwanashe Marumani was the top scorer with 51 off 44 balls before being stumped by Pathum Mendis off a googly from leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha. Hemantha also took the important wickets of Sean Williams (23) and captain Sikandar Raza (28), keeping Zimbabwe’s score under control.

“We achieved more than 190. It’s not easy once we got that defeat yesterday. It is very hard to come back like this. Pitch looked really well in the powerplay. We just keep saying that minimize boundaries and keep them under 200. Really impressed with that performance from Mishara and Kusal Janith. Not easy to score 10-11 runs per over. That’s what I said. It’s about showing characters. We had a defeat yesterday and we came back today. Best teams come back like this." Charith Asalanka said.

“It was one of those targets we haven’t seen many times. We were pleased with that effort. We would have taken that total. You will see one or two overs here and there but I’m happy with how the batters fared. It was a very good total. I think credit to where it is due. Sri Lanka batted well. We as a bowling unit weren’t up to the mark today. 191 chasing in 18 overs, we weren’t up to the mark. They batted well as well but we could have done better.

"We will be trying more combinations going to Namibia. There will be few tweaks here and there. I personally back the boys but we will be trying some combinations. Certainly, the standard of cricket we have played is a big positive. Few bad moments shouldn’t take away the credit we must deserve for the way we have played." Sikandar Raza said.
