Sean Abbott is ‘sick’ of bowling to Babar Azam
It isn’t a clickbait title. No one is misleading you. Sean Abbott really is ‘sick’ of bowling to Babar Azam. In a viral interview clip, the Australian all-rounder said it is impossible to get the Pakistani batter out, which frustrates bowlers, including him.
Abbott hasn’t dismissed Babar yet
While the two haven’t faced each other many times, Abbott rued the fact that he hasn’t ever dismissed the right-handed batter in any format. Abbott has bowled to Babar in five ODIs and two T20Is so far, getting hit for 48 runs off the 60 deliveries he bowled to the 31-year-old batter.
"Babar hits you where Babar wants to, and I'm sick of bowling at him," Abbott said during an interview that went viral on social media.
"Whether it's domestic cricket or international cricket, I don't think I've ever got him out, and it feels a bit like death by a thousand cuts sometimes because you look up at the scoreboard and he is striking at 120, and you feel like you are nowhere near getting him out," he added.
Babar an ‘asset’ for Sydney
However, luckily for the Aussie all-rounder, he won’t have to worry about it this year. Both players are part of the same team, the Sydney Sixers, in the Big Bash League (BBL). Besides the relief of not having to bowl to him, Abbott was happy with the value that Babar brings to the BBL side.
"So, a real asset to have, and he has been a hell of a fit for us so far. Really blessed that Babar [is] in the Sixers."
Interestingly, both players helped take their team over the line against the Melbourne Renegades at the Marvel Stadium on New Year’s Day. Abbott demolished the Renegades with a three-wicket haul, after which Babar scored a 46-ball 58 to chase down 165 with six wickets to spare.
