Rizwan on PCB’s fine on Pakistan players: ‘Nothing official yet’
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was earlier understood to be mulling over fining players PKR 5 million each following their underwhelming performance during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Rizwan refused to comment
The team crashed out of the tournament without making it to the semi-finals, marking their fourth consecutive ICC event where they failed to reach the semis.
While speaking to the media on the sidelines on the final day of Pakistan’s training camp ahead of the three-match ODI series against the Bangladesh national cricket team, Mohammad Rizwan refused to comment on the reports without any official confirmation on the matter.
“Many people have asked me about this, and even players have been asked, but so far nothing official has come forward. If the PCB officially states that there is a fine of fifty lakh or that the management has imposed penalties, then I could comment on it,” Rizwan told reporters.
“But since nothing official has been announced yet, and these reports have only appeared in the news,
“I can only say that such claims raise questions in my mind about how these things are being presented when nothing official has been issued.”
Pakistan have departed for Dhaka, where they will play the ODI series starting March 11. This will be the first time the Men in Green will play an ODI series in Bangladesh since 2015.
