RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025 Final: Virat Kohli’s Record in IPL Finals Under the Spotlight
Virat Kohli is one of the biggest names in IPL history, but the league’s final has rarely gone his way. Despite his stellar career and years of top performances, he has played in only three IPL finals so far. As Royal Challengers Bengaluru prepare to take on Punjab Kings in the title clash, all eyes will be on Kohli. His form could be the key if RCB are to finally win their first-ever IPL trophy.
RCB played their first-ever IPL final back in 2009, when the tournament was held in South Africa. Facing Deccan Chargers at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, RCB were chasing a modest target of 144 but fell just short ending at 137/9. Virat Kohli, still early in his career managed only 7 runs from 8 balls before being dismissed by Andrew Symonds. In the end, Deccan won the final by 6 runs, and RCB were left heartbroken.
In the 2011 IPL final against Chennai Super Kings, Virat Kohli scored 35 off 32 balls but couldn’t quite get the momentum going. CSK had put up a huge 205 on the board and RCB needed something special in return. Unfortunately, despite Kohli’s effort, the chase never really took off. RCB fell short by 58 runs making it another tough final for both Kohli and the team.
Record-Breaking Season for Kohli Ends in Heartbreaking 2016 IPL Final Loss
In the 2016 final, Virat Kohli was in great form after scoring a record 973 runs that season. Playing at home in Bengaluru, everyone expected RCB to win. Kohli made 54 runs off 35 balls hitting five fours and two sixes. But even with his strong innings, RCB fell short and lost by eight runs.
