Rajasthan Royals Confirm Jaipur as Home Venue for IPL 2026 After Talks With Rajasthan CM
Rajasthan Royals will play four of their seven home matches in the IPL 2026 season at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Stadium in Jaipur. This stadium has been the team’s home ground since the IPL began in 2008. In the last few seasons, RR has also used the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati as a second home venue.
Rajasthan Royals to Play Four IPL 2026 Home Matches in Jaipur After State Government Talks
The change in venues happened because RR had problems with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), which is currently suspended, and the temporary committee running cricket in the state.
RR also raised concerns about fan safety at the Jaipur stadium after an independent safety audit. After recent crowd incidents in Indian cricket, the BCCI supported RR’s concerns. However, the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) said that only small repair works were needed.

To make sure IPL matches stay in Jaipur, the Rajasthan government stepped in. RR chairperson Ranjit Barthakur met Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and the talks went well. After the meeting, both sides agreed on a compromise.
As per the decision, RR will play four matches in Jaipur and three in Guwahati. Even though Jaipur gets one match less than last year, it is still seen as a positive outcome. The RSSC has already started repair and upgrade work at the SMS Stadium so that it is ready, safe, and comfortable for fans during IPL 2026.
