"One match and one day do not define us,"Said Shubman Gill rejects criticism after Border-Gavaskar loss in Australia
India's performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series drew sharp criticism from fans and pundits alike. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team struggled with the bat, as the Australian bowlers exploited their weaknesses. However, Shubman Gill has come out in support of his team, arguing that one poor performance shouldn't define the overall form of the side.
Shubman Gill has defended Team India's performance following their defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. The opener and vice-captain emphasized that a single poor series shouldn’t define the team’s overall quality, and he believes it's unfair to criticize the side based on a few disappointing results. He talked about how not having Jasprit Bumrah available on the final day affected the team, saying that his presence might have helped India manage a draw in the series.
Shubman Gill said, "One match and one day doesn't define us, we won there twice before and earlier won a World Cup and then reached the final of a World Cup, so we should keep all those things in mind."
Shubman Gill also came out in support of the under-pressure Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, praising his immense contribution to Team India in the ODI World Cup. The vice-captain was quick to acknowledge Rohit's outstanding form in white-ball cricket, emphasizing how much of a game-changer he has been for the team.

"The way Rohit bhai has been batting in the ODIs in the past year and a half, it's been really game-changing for us. Taking the momentum right through from the start and taking the game away from ball one and it makes the job of the non-striker and the batsmen coming in a bit easier and I think it has helped our team a lot," Gill added.
