Punjab Kings Pacer Lockie Ferguson Likely to Miss Rest of IPL 2025 Due to Injury
Punjab Kings fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is likely to miss the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League following an injury picked up during the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ferguson pulled up and had to leave the field after delivering only two balls. He has recently battled fitness issues; during the ILT20, a hamstring problem kept him out of contention for the Champions Trophy.
During the pre-match press conference, PBKS coach James Hopes confirmed the development mentioning that the pacer is out indefinitely and that there’s now a slim possibility of him making a return before the end of the season.
“Ferguson is out indefinitely, I think, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he’s done a real decent injury to himself.” James Hopessaid.
In his four appearances, Ferguson has claimed five wickets, and PBKS now finds itself without a clear replacement for the New Zealand pacer. They might turn to Vysakh Vijayakumar, one of their standout performers in the opening match, or consider Azmatullah Omarzai as an alternative.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Struggles: PBKS Look to Reignite Spinner’s Form
Yuzvendra Chahal’s form has been one of PBKS’s concerns this year. The spinner has managed just two wickets in five matches while conceding runs at an economy rate of over 11. According to Hopes, Chahal will be vital to their success this season, and the bowling unit needs to involve him more effectively in the game.
“We need to bring Yuzi into the game more than we’re doing. He’s just struggling to get into the game at the moment. We are five games in, and for us to win the IPL, we’re going to need him. So, we have a month and a half now to try and get him into the tournament properly,” James added.
