Pakistan vs USA: Will rain play spoilsport in Colombo?

Playing in Sri Lanka is synonymous with staying anxious about the rain’s sudden appearance.

Colombo cleared of rain for match day

Pakistan were spared the rain playing spoilsport in the first game against the Netherlands on February 7, despite the weather forecast not being promising.

Against USA, whom Pakistan will face at the same venue, the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, the weather does not seem too threatening. The humidity is expected to peak during the game hours, and clouds will hover over the ground. However, rain is predicted not to cause any disruptions.

Pakistan, though, will have more than the weather’s unpredictability to worry about. They have only faced USA once in T20Is, and that game would still be etched, for the worse, in their memories. 

Led by Babar Azam in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the side took a licking against USA, who won the match in the Super Over. Pakistan would hope to settle the score in Colombo, though doing that would be nowhere near an easy task.

USA gave India a hard time in their opening game, and though failed to cross the line, they would look to go one better against Pakistan to stay afloat for the Super Eights.
