Pakistan Defeat Sri Lanka by 7 Wickets as Sahibzada Farhan Shines with 80*

[ Poll: Gwbn5gwM ]

They chased down Sri Lanka’s target with ease, winning by seven wickets and 27 balls to spare. The target of 129 wasn’t too challenging, but Sahibzada Farhan made it look easy with a brilliant unbeaten 80 off just 45 balls. Sri Lanka needed early breakthroughs to make the chase tricky, but their bowling lacked discipline.

Eshan Malinga, in particular, gave away too many easy runs. Saim Ayub and Farhan took full advantage of the loose deliveries, putting Pakistan firmly in control. In a surprising moment, Dasun Shanaka had to bowl himself in the 5th over. Out of nowhere, he managed to get a wicket in a very unusual way, Saim Ayub stepped out of the crease unsure of the ball, and Kusal Mendis quickly removed the bails.

The Lankan spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth bowled a few economical overs with Babar Azam, in particular, failing to rotate strike. However, Farhan had no issues as he was brilliant against both pace and spin. The opener went onto register his fifty off 33 balls and he only became more aggressive with each ball.

Pakistan Cruises to Victory Over Sri Lanka with Sahibzada Farhan’s Heroics

With victory in sight, Pakistan had a slight stumble as Dushmantha Chameera removed Babar and Salman Ali Agha off back-to-back deliveries in the 14th over. Yet, it didn't prove to be a big issue as Farhan struck a boundary off Eshan Malinga in the 16th over to get Pakistan over the line comfortably.

Earlier in the match, Kamil Mishara got Sri Lanka off to a sprightly start until Faheem Ashraf got rid of him in the 4th over. Kusal Mendis was also run-out soon after that while Sri Lanka had a disappointing finish to the Powerplay with only 44/2 on the board.

At one end, Pathum Nissanka never got going and he was eventually dismissed for a 17-ball 23 by Abrar Ahmed in the ninth over. But the start of the bowling innings for Pakistan was Mohammad Nawaz who bowled superb deliveries to account for Kusal Perera's and Shanaka's wickets in the 12th over.
