New Zealand Beat India by 50 Runs in 4th T20I as Tim Seifert Shines in Vizag

New Zealand finally won a match in the T20I series against India, beating the hosts by 50 runs in Vizag. Tim Seifert played a great innings with the bat, and then New Zealand’s bowlers performed really well to secure a big victory. India won the toss and elected to bowl first. Arshdeep Singh replaced Ishan Kishan with the batter nursing a niggle.

New Zealand attacked from the get go. Seifert top scored with 62 in 36 balls, Devon Conway hit 44 in 23 at the top and Daryl Mitchell finished the innings with an unbeaten 39 off 18. Arshdeep on his return starred with 2/33, Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2/39 with Jasprit Bumrah picking up 1/38 in his 4 overs. Harshit Rana was wicketless and expensive conceding 54 runs in his 4 overs.

India's chase derailed straightaway as Abhishek Sharma lofted the first ball to be taken by Devon Conway off Matt Henry. Jacob Duffy then pulled a surreal caught and bowled to send Suryakumar Yadav for 8. Sanju Samson who struggled for form this series scored 24 in 15 but was cleaned up by Mitchell Santner. Rinku Singh faced 30 deliveries for his 39.

New Zealand register big win against India in fourth T20I

Hardik Pandya did not bowl and failed with the bat hitting one straight to Zak Foulkes off Santner for 2. Shivam Dube at number 6 displayed a six hitting masterclass smashing the ball 7 times out of the park and hit 3 fours to smash 65 in 23 balls. Dube was equally good against pace and spin and batted well on both front and backfoot before a Harshit Rana shot was deflected by bowler Henry on his stumps while he backed away for a single.

Since the dismissal, India kept losing wickets quickly and could never recover. Santner was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26, Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi picked up a couple of wickets each but were expensive with Sodhi taken to the cleaners by Dube taking 29 off his 3rd over.

Matt Henry was tidy in his 1/24 and Glenn Phillips bowled a solitary over conceding 7 runs. New Zealand would certainly gain plenty of positives with that victory with the series scoreline 3-1. The fifth and final T20I will be played on Saturday in Thiruvananthapuram before the teams kick start their T20 World Cup campaign with warm-up fixtures in the first week of February.
