KL Rahul Eyes Historic Boxing Day Test Century Record Against Australia

KL Rahul is extremely close to setting a record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where India is getting ready for the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Rahul has clearly shown what he can do in Boxing Day Tests, and he could possibly be the first Indian batter to score a hundred in three consecutive iconic games like these.
Rahul has really performed well in the series against Australia. The matches have been incredibly challenging for most of the Indian team, particularly the top-order batsman, but Rahul has consistently performed well.
He's 32 and has obtained the second most runs in the five games, hitting a total of 235 runs with an average of 47.00. He keeps his composure during intense moments and that's why he's been so important, especially when they're playing tough matches outside of India.

Rahul has a great track record in Boxing Day Tests. In 2021, he mastered it by scoring 123 runs against South Africa at Centurion, and that win was Unforgettable for the Indian fans and team, then he did it again in 2023, achieving up to 101 runs in another Boxing Day match.
Now, if he hits another hundred in Melbourne, he'll set a new record. He'll have three Boxing Day centuries in a row, something not even leaders such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, or Ajinkya Rahane have done since they all stopped at two.
After the iconic Sydney Test:
where he finally scored his first international century, Rahul has been performing consistently well in crucial overseas matches. Initially, in 2014 at the MCG against Australia, Rahul entered the Test cricket scene but he did not do well, managing only three and one in his two innings.
Despite such a rough start in his career, he prepared himself to emerge as one of the reliable players for India. His turning point came in the next Test at Sydney, marking the start of his steady journey in cricket.
If Rahul scores another Boxing Day century at the MCG, he could become part of cricket history. The MCG has been tough for him, but it's also a location where he could stand out. Making it his third consecutive century would show everyone he can deal with difficult moments.
India is aiming to win and is getting ready for the Melbourne Test. Rahul is in the spotlight because of his impressive performances in this series and his past success in Boxing Day games.
