Kane Williamson Joins LSG as Strategic Advisor Amid Major Team Overhaul

In a big update from the IPL, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have reportedly brought in New Zealand star Kane Williamson, but not as a player.
As per the Times of India, Williamson has joined LSG as their new strategic advisor after a special request from team owner Sanjiv Goenka. Williamson, who led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the IPL title in 2016, will now help LSG with planning and team strategy.
They qualified for knockouts in their first two seasons but finished seventh in their next two. Hence, there have been many changes in coaching staff in these four years. First there were Gautam Gambhir and Morne Morkel. Now, Justin Langer is the head coach and his job seems to be secure as of now. That said, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have decided to part ways with mentor Zaheer Khan after just one season.
Kane Williamson Becomes LSG’s New Advisor as Team Makes Big Changes
They have now brought in Bharat Arun as their new bowling coach, the same man who earlier worked with Team India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). And according to Revsportz, the KKR link doesn’t end there. Carl Crowe, who was with KKR as a spin coach, is set to join LSG in the same role, adding his valuable experience to the setup. With Kane Williamson joining as a strategic advisor, the Rishabh Pant-led team now has a strong support staff. However, LSG’s biggest challenge will be managing their all-Indian pace attack.
Bowlers like Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Akash Deep, and Avesh Khan all struggled with injuries last season, which hurt the team’s performance. Though LSG discovered young talents like Digvesh Rathi and Prince Yadav, their batting mostly relied on the overseas stars, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran.
