The Kolkata Knight Riders are experiencing a few issues with their fast bowling attack before the start of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. One of their key auction acquisitions, Mustafizur Rahman, will not be available for the team. KKR have signed Blessing Muzarabani in his place, but the absence of Mustafizur is still a huge blow to the team.

Trouble does not seem to end for the team. The team's leading domestic fast bowler, Harshit Rana, has been ruled out due to an injury. It is reported that Simarjeet Singh might take his place, but nothing has been confirmed by the team yet.

KKR are also awaiting an update on Matheesha Pathirana. The Sri Lankan fast bowler had suffered an injury during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, and his availability is still a question. Recently, a picture of Pathirana in a KKR jersey was posted by his manager, Amila Kalugalage, on social media. This has led some fans to think that he might still play in the IPL 2026.

As per the rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, injury replacements can be signed until the 12th match of the season. This means that KKR still have time. If Pathirana doesn’t recover in time, they can sign another player later.
