Top 5 Weakest Spin Attacks in IPL 2026 Season

1. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

For IPL 2026, a risky spin bowling attack is on the way; Zeeshan Ansari and Harsh Dubey are some of the new players for SRH, and Kamindu Mendis has an opportunity, but he has some competition for batting spots with other strong options such as Head and Klaasen. Without an experienced spinnning option, it'll be challenging for SRH to be successful at the middle orders.

Player Type of Bowling Role
Zeeshan Ansari Leg-break Lead Spinner
Shivang Kumar Right-arm Off-break All-rounder
Krains Fuletra Leg-break Tactical Sub
Praful Hinge Slow Left-arm Orthodox Depth Option

2. Mumbai Indians (MI)

The team still relies heavily on their fast bowlers, but the loss of some experienced players from their spin bowling line-up has left them with a weaker spin attack than in previous years.

Although Mitchell Santner is a capable spinner, he may only be an option if there are no restrictions on overseas players. In light of this, it is now Markande and Ankolekar's responsibility to perform. Overall, the team is missing an Indian spinner who will help take wickets.

Player Type of Bowling Role
Mitchell Santner Slow Left-arm Orthodox Overseas Spinner
Mayank Markande Leg-break Primary Indian Spinner
Atharva Ankolekar Slow Left-arm Orthodox Domestic Backup
Allah Ghazanfar Right-arm Off-break Mystery Spinner

3. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

The team's reliance on Wanindu Hasaranga is substantial, but it is unknown if he will be fit to play because he is recovering from injury. Should he be unable to play, LSG must then rely on Digvesh Rathi and Shahbaz Ahmed in his place. They also did not secure a strong alternative Indian spinner, which could remain problematic during the middle overs of the match.

Player Type of Bowling Role
Wanindu Hasaranga Leg-break Strike Bowler
M. Siddharth Slow Left-arm Orthodox Powerplay Specialist
Digvesh Rathi Leg-break Emerging Spinner
Shahbaz Ahmed Slow Left-arm Orthodox All-rounder

4. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

The defending champions have a secure spin bowling attack. The spinners can successfully restrict the scoring rate of the opposition, but their ability to take wickets is limited. Krunal Pandya and Swapnil Singh are both experienced bowlers, though they are both also defensive-type bowlers.

Outside of Suyash Sharma, they don’t have any attacking spinners. This could create an opportunity for batsmen to score runs on a flat surface like the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Player Type of Bowling Role
Krunal Pandya Slow Left-arm Orthodox Lead Experienced Spinner
Swapnil Singh Slow Left-arm Orthodox Utility Spinner
Vicky Ostwal Slow Left-arm Orthodox Developmental Prospect

5. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Yuzvendra Chahal is an excellent spinner, but his current form is poor. He has been very leaky with regard to runs. Pravin Dubey and Vishal Nishad are not particularly seasoned spinner-bowlers. Should Chahal continue to bowl poorly, the team may find it difficult to have a successful spin attack.

Player Type of Bowling Role
Yuzvendra Chahal Leg-break Lead Strike Bowler
Pravin Dubey Leg-break Backup Leg-spinner
Vishal Nishad Slow Left-arm Orthodox Domestic Depth
