Chennai Super Kings are gearing up for a future without their legendary wicket-keeper MS Dhoni, targeting Rishabh Pant as their key acquisition in the IPL 2025 auction. While Dhoni is set to be retained as an 'uncapped player' under new rules, CSK is focusing on long-term strategy. According to Indian Express, Pant is at the top of their wishlist. The franchise plans to pursue him aggressively if he enters the auction.
CSK has decided to retain skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sri Lanka's Matheesha Pathirana, and Dhoni. However, the fate of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hinges on Pant's status with Delhi Capitals. Should Pant enter the auction, CSK anticipates a bidding war around Rs 20 crore, potentially leading them to forgo retaining Jadeja. Nevertheless, they may invoke the Right To Match (RTM) option for Jadeja in this scenario.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans are expected to retain their key players, including skipper Shubman Gill and star spinner Rashid Khan, as they prepare for the IPL 2025 mega auction.
