IPL 2025 Points Table: Team Rankings After RCB vs KKR Match
The return of IPL 2025 hit a rain delay as the much-anticipated clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was washed out due to persistent heavy rain. With no play possible, both sides were given a point each. That single point ended KKR’s hopes of making the playoffs, officially knocking the defending champions out of the race. On the other hand, RCB moved to the top of the table, now sitting pretty with 17 points.
Before this rain-hit game, the last match in the league was between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. That fixture was called off due to security concerns linked to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Following that, the IPL went on a one-week break, during which many overseas players chose to head back to their home countries.
With tensions between India and Pakistan easing after a ceasefire BCCI decided to restart the IPL at six venues. The RCB vs KKR match was meant to kick things off again. But unfortunately, heavy rain spoiled the plans and the game had to be called off.
After the washed-out game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. KKR, on the other hand, managed just one point from the match and are now officially out of the playoff race, sitting in sixth place. As the league heads into a double-header on May 18, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians currently hold the other spots in the top four.
