Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by four wickets, officially knocking the five-time champions out of the playoff race in the 2025 Indian Premier League. With this loss, CSK— who’ve had a tough run this season became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings climbed back into the top four after their win over the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. With seven wins from 10 matches, PBKS currently sit in second place on the points table. Their previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders was washed out due to rain.
Coming back to the match, Sam Curran's brilliant 88 went in vain as Yuzvendra Chahal’s hat-trick turned the game in Punjab Kings’ favour. Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer both scored solid half-centuries to help PBKS chase down the target and seal a four-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Iyer, who came in after Priyansh Arya’s early dismissal, played a composed knock of 72 off 40 balls to guide Punjab to their sixth win of the season.
