West Indies Struggle with Bat and Fielding in Heavy Defeat
West Indies were struggling in the field as well, as they lost many crucial catches and committed 25 extras, of which 17 were wides. Among the visitors, Zaida James was the shining bowler as she picked up four wickets for 55 runs in her 8 overs. However, still, it was a difficult task for West Indies to restrict India from their attacking batting.
In chase, top four West Indies batters all of them were bowled out before they attained single-digit numbers, and only the middle order offered negligible resistance. West Indies scored 103 in 26.2 overs, with Afiya Fletcher's faultless 24 being the only highlight that allowed the players to get out for a minimal cost in runs. Indian bowlers, particularly Titas Sadhu and Priya Mishra created immense pressure with a sustained chain of wickets.
This win was comprehensive. Mandhana's classy innings and Renuka's career-best bowling performance were the highlight of a team effort, with not much room left to the opposition. West Indies need to regroup especially on batting and fielding grounds to bounce back in this series. India have now put themselves in an ideal position to carry the momentum of the initial games to the rest of the games.
