GT vs DC Highlights: Jos Buttler, Rutherford Power Titans to 7-Wicket Win

GT vs DC Highlights: Buttler, Rutherford Power Titans to 7-Wicket Win  jumped to the top of the IPL 2025 points table after pulling off a brilliant chase of 204, beating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The star of the night was Jos Buttler played a sensational knock but was left unbeaten on 97 off 54 balls just three short of a record-equalling century. Had he gotten there, he would’ve matched Virat Kohli’s record for the most IPL hundreds (eight). But in a dramatic finish, Rahul Tewatia sealed the win with a six and a four in the final over, leaving Buttler just shy of the milestone.

We’re officially at the halfway mark in the tournament, and things are getting tight at the top. Three teams Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are all locked on 10 points from seven games. GT sit at the top for now, thanks to their stronger net run-rate. In their latest win, it was Jos Buttler who stole the show with a brilliant knock. One of the standout moments came in the 15th over when he took on Mitchell Starc and smacked him for five consecutive boundaries in a 21-run over. Just vintage Buttler!

Buttler Anchors GT’s Chase in Confident Win Over DC

Jos Buttler has been in red-hot form for his new IPL side ever since Rajasthan Royals released him. He kicked off the 2025 season with a solid 54 and followed it up with knocks of 39, an unbeaten 73, a rare duck, 36, and 16 heading into the home clash against the Capitals. He’s clearly enjoying his time in new colours and proving to be a real asset at the top of the order.

GT made the most of a great batting surface, getting off to a flying start thanks to Sai Sudharsan’s quickfire 36 off just 21 balls. Despite an early mix-up that led to skipper Shubman Gill getting run out for just 7, Sudharsan stepped up and ensured a solid Powerplay. He eventually fell to a clever delivery from Kuldeep Yadav, but by then, the momentum was with GT. Impact Player Sherfane Rutherford then came in and played a crucial knock building a strong partnership with Jos Buttler that set the stage for a comfortable chase.

DC’s innings wasn’t the most fluent, but they still managed to post a 200-plus total with contributions from almost every batter. They finally made a change at the top, dropping the out-of-form Jake Fraser-McGurk, and with Faf du Plessis still out, the team opened with Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair.

Axar Patel top-scored with 39, while handy cameos from Karun, KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs, and Ashutosh Sharma kept the scoreboard ticking in what was a stop-start kind of innings. On the bowling front, GT skipper Shubman Gill held back Sai Kishore until the very last over, even as Ishant Sharma visibly struggled in the scorching heat and couldn’t complete his full spell.
