Faheem Ashraf bags another three-fer to take Rangpur over the line

Faheem Ashraf has played three Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) games so far and already has 11 wickets to his name. Representing Rangpur Riders, the Pakistan fast bowling all-rounder picked up another three-wicket haul to demolish Sylhet Titans.

Faheem gets 3 wickets for 17 runs

The 11-wicket tally places Faheem at the top of the BPL’s highest wicket-takers list, having taken five and three wickets in his first two games. While he was relatively expensive in his previous outing, conceding 43 runs, he returned figures of 3 for 17 against Sylhet from his four overs, two of which were maidens.

With this three-fer, Faheem now has the fourth most wickets in T20s since the start of last year, with a total of 71.

In addition to Faheem, his Pakistan teammate Khushdil Shah had a decent outing with both bat and ball. Although he went wicketless in the two overs he bowled, Khushdil contributed a brisk 19 off 11 balls. Alongside him, Mahmudullah provided the fireworks, making light work of the 145-run target set by Sylhet. For his 34 off 16 deliveries, Mahmudullah was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Not a good day at the office for Amir, Saim

None of the other Pakistan players managed to find their groove in this game. Mohammad Amir conceded 21 runs in 3.5 wicketless overs, while Saim Ayub, despite picking up a wicket, continued to struggle with the bat. With the World Cup less than a month away, Saim’s off-colour performances remain a cause for concern for Pakistan.

Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Titans are currently level on points, although the former occupy a higher position on the points table.

It is worth mentioning that seven Pakistani players, including Khawaja Nafay, Mohammad Nawaz, Shahibzada Farhan, Usman Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Saim Ayub, will leave the BPL to join the national side for the Sri Lanka tour. The three-match T20I series will run from January 7 to 11, with all games scheduled to be played in Dambulla.
