England Lions vs Pakistan Shaheens 2026: Full Schedule, Squads, Live Streaming and Broadcast Details
England Lions have announced their squads for the white-ball series against Pakistan Shaheens, which will be played in Abu Dhabi next month. There will be different teams for T20 and 50-over matches. The tour will have three T20 games and five 50-over matches. This is England Lions’ first T20 series since 2018. Their last 50-over series was played in Sri Lanka in early 2023.
Jordan Cox has been named captain of the T20 squad, which has 16 players. Fast bowler Saqib Mahmood is also back in the team after recovering from knee surgery. Cox and Mahmood will stay as backup players in case England need them for the T20 World Cup.
James Coles, who recently won the SA20 title with Sunrisers Eastern Cape, has been picked in the squad. Nathan Sowter has also been selected after doing well for Durham and Oval Invincibles. Tom Moores has returned to the Lions team after a good season with Nottinghamshire and Trent Rockets.
Dan Mousley will lead the 50-over squad, which has 17 players. He has already played seven matches for England during the West Indies tour in late 2024. Somerset wicketkeeper James Rew is also included, while Matthew Potts will try to get back into form after a tough Ashes Test in Sydney.
England performance director Ed Barney said this series is important for the future. He said it is good to see a strong group with a mix of experienced players and young talent. He also said that because there is not much 50-over cricket these days, this series and other tours in 2026 will help players improve as England prepare for the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
After the Pakistan Shaheens series, England Lions will play two first-class matches and three List A games against South Africa A in the home summer, starting in late May. Another white-ball tour is also planned later in the year.
