BCCI to Meet Team Management and Senior Players Ahead of Raipur ODI in Meerut

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned a meeting with the men’s team management to discuss plans for all formats and improve communication among key members. The meeting will be held on Wednesday in Raipur, before the second ODI between India and South Africa.

According to the Reports, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar are expected to join the meeting. It is not confirmed if BCCI president Mithun Manhas will attend. Since the meeting is on the match day, senior players are unlikely to be called in. 

A senior BCCI official said the purpose of the meeting is to make sure the selectors and team management are on the same page. They want steady selection, better plans for each player’s growth, and overall improvement in the team’s performance.

The official added, 

“During the home Test season, some decisions on and off the field were confusing. We want clear plans and better preparation, especially with the next Test series still nine months away.”

The official also agreed that there are some communication gaps between the team management and senior white-ball players.He said India will be favourites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and will also be strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so these issues must be fixed soon.

Even though no names were taken, it is clear that there is some discomfort because communication with senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has reduced. After they retired from T20Is last year and moved away from Test cricket in early 2025, talks between them and the current setup have slowly become less frequent..
