Ravindra Jadeja Criticized by Australian Media for Speaking Hindi, Sparks 'Hypocrisy' Debate

The Australian media has created another controversy, just days after Virat Kohli requested an Australian journalist not to click pictures of his family at the Melbourne airport. This time, the Australian press has accused Ravindra Jadeja of not answering their questions in English.
After India's first session at the MCG practice, Jadeja went off for a media interaction. All was good until the session ended and Jadeja headed back to the pavilion. It was there that an Australian reporter sounded indignant, claiming he wasn't replied to at all in English.
India's media manager tried to clarify that the press conference was mainly for the Indian media. The Australian journalist, however, appeared unsatisfied with this response. The reporter continued to express frustration, even confronting the India team media manager, which only made things worse.
Australian Media: One question in English?
Team Manager: sorry, we don't have time now. You can see the team bus is waiting.
Aussie Media: Can't we take one question in English?
Manager: This was organised mainly for the travelling Indian media.
Aussie Media: The organisation is hopeless.
An Indian journalist who attended the MCG press conference commented that several Indian reporters didn't get a chance to ask questions either but chose not to argue or create a scene like some of the Australian journalists did.

This is not the first time tensions have flared between Indian players and the Australian press. The Australian media has often been criticized for making stories that target Indian cricketers, almost acting as an extra "12th man" in favor of their team.
"I was present there, and many Indian touring journalists didn't get the opportunity to ask questions due to time constraints. However, after the press conference ended, a few Australian journalists got annoyed and argued with the Indian team's media manager. They misbehaved as well, which was uncalled for. I cover press conferences regularly, and even during Australian press conferences, many Indian journalists don't get the chance to ask questions due to time shortages, but we have never argued or misbehaved," the journalist shared with PTI.
Virat Kohli Stands Up Against Privacy Breach at Melbourne Airport
Earlier in the series, Virat Kohli had confronted the Australian media for invading his privacy at Melbourne airport. Channel 7 cameras that were covering Australian pacer Scott Boland suddenly focussed on Kohli and his family. Kohli insisted on respecting his personal space, and the issue was resolved after assurances were made that his children were not filmed.
Media controversy incidents like the infamous "Monkeygate" scandal in 2008 and others reflect a bad relationship between the Australian media and Indian players. Most of these issues surface at a high-stakes series, thus making the rivalry hot enough. Currently, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at a 1-1 draw, the current series has had battles both on and off the field.
