Phoebe Litchfield Injured, Amy Jones Replaces Her in UP Warriorz for WPL 2026

The WPL 2026 playoffs are no longer an option for UP Warriorz due to the absence of an injuried Phoebe Litchfield, an explosive batter whose injury has ruled her out of the tournament. England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones will be replacing Phoebe Litchfield.
Litchfield, through a spokesperson from Cricket Australia, has been diagnosed with a quad (thigh) muscle injury. She will be returning back to her home country of Australia. After her return from India, she will rehabilitate in preparation for the series against India beginning February 15, 2021. For the UP Warriorz, she had an immediate impact with her outstanding performance; Litchfield played in all six matches and made 243 runs with an average of 40.5, and a strike rate of 154.77. She is the third leading run scorer in the WPL 2026 to date.
Who is Amy Jones, who replaced Litchfield?
Amy Jones will be participating in the WPL this year for the first time ever after not being sold at last November's auction where she had a base price of INR 50 lakh. She has been an integral part of the English national team, representing England in 125 T20s and 111 ODIs to date. In addition to these international appearances, she played in both the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) and The Hundred (both of which feature international players). During the most recent WBBL season (2022/23), she represented the Melbourne Stars and scored 234 runs over 11 matches (an average of 21.27) at a strike rate of 125.80 with the matched produced into a knockout stage qualification for her team.
UP is near the bottom of the 2026 WPL Points Table. The squad has won 2 of their 6 matches for just 4 points overall. Despite having only 4 points, there is a potential path for UP to make the playoffs. They have 2 matches remaining, and if they are able to win both, they will be eligible for postseason play. Their next match is scheduled against RCB on 1/29.
