Peshawar Zalmi add Shahnawaz Dahani after PSL auction
Peshawar Zalmi have signed Shahnawaz Dahani for the upcoming PSL season, a couple of days after the fast bowler went unsold in the auction.
Signed after going unsold
Dahani, who had registered himself at a base price of PKR 11 million, could not garner any interest from franchises at the auction. However, since each team was allowed to directly sign players from their remaining salary purse after the auction, the fast bowler found a way back into the league.
Of all the franchises, Zalmi had the most left in their salary purse, even after gathering a 17-member squad through retentions and direct signing, in addition to buying the players at the auction.
The franchise did not disclose the signing fee for Dahani, though some unverified sources suggest the fast bowler was signed for PKR 6 million.
Dahani’s PSL experience
Dahani has previously featured in four PSL seasons for the now-defunct Multan Sultans. He was the league’s highest wicket-taker during their victory run in 2021, taking 20 wickets across eleven games.
Dahani’s signing expands Zalmi’s squad size to 18. Each team is allowed a maximum squad of 20 members for the upcoming season, including 5 or 7 overseas players.
Peshawar Zalmi squad for PSL 11:
Babar Azam, Sufyan Moqim, Abdul Samad, Ali Raza, Aaron Hardie, Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Haris, Khalid Usman, Abdul Subhan, James Vince, Michael Bracewell, Kusal Mendis, Iftikhar Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Mirza Tahir, Kashif Ali, and Shahnawaz Dahani.
