New Zealand Announces 14-Man Squad for T20I Series Against Australia New Zealand has announced a 14-player squad for their upcoming T20I series against Australia. Michael Bracewell will lead the team as captain because the regular captain, Mitchell Santner, is not available. Santner had abdominal surgery last month and was hoping to play in the three-match series in Mount Maunganui on October 1, 3 and 4, but he hasn’t recovered in time.

The squad welcomes back fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears. However, experienced bowlers Lockie Ferguson (hamstring) and Adam Milne (foot) will miss the series because of injuries. Will O’Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Finn Allen (foot) are also unavailable. Kane Williamson chose to sit out this series but is expected to return for the upcoming white-ball games against England.

“The Chappell-Hadlee Series is a great way to start the summer. I grew up watching those series and the rivalry is massive between New Zealand and Australia. Since 2016 it [the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy] hasn’t been with us, and that’s something we want to change. Having the opportunity to fight for that on home soil is pretty special.” Bracewell said.
