IND vs WI 2nd Test Day 1 Highlights: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Seventh Test Hundred Puts India in Control Against West Indies

India started well in the second and final Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, October 10. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star of the day, scoring his seventh Test hundred and crossing 3,000 international runs as India ended Day 1 in a strong position at 318/2 after 90 overs.

Captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first on a good pitch for batting. Openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul started well, adding more than 50 runs for the first wicket. Rahul looked good for his 38 off 54 balls but was stumped by Tevin Imlach off Jomel Warrican’s bowling, leaving India at 58/1.

After that, Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan scored a great partnership. Jaiswal scored his 50 in 82 balls and, after that, his century in 145 balls. Sudharsan also batted well, scoring 87 runs in 165 balls with 12 fours. These two batters looks good and they took India to 220/1 at tea.

In the final session, Sudharsan got out lbw in Warrican bowling, breaking the 193-run partnership. Captain Gill then joined Jaiswal, and the duo added a steady 67-run partnership topto finish the day safely.

At stumps, Jaiswal was not out on 173 off 253 balls with 22 fours, while Gill was on 20 off 68 balls. India ended Day 1 in full dominance, putting India in a strong position for Day 2.
