England Announce Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Squad, Eye First Title Since 2009

Following the Men's T20 World Cup in India, the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will begin in June in England and Wales. The host England women's cricket team has named its 15-strong squad.

England name strong squad for Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Sciver-Brunt leads, Dean vice-captain

England, the winners in 2009, have included 18-year-old spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman in their team, which seems somewhat surprising; however, the team overall seems very strong and predictable. Nat Sciver-Brunt is the captain of the team, while Charlotte Dean will be the vice-captain.

Issy Wong and veteran Danni Wyatt-Hodge, playing her eighth World Cup, will also be part of the England women's squad. Captian Sciver-Brunt has expressed that the team is thrilled to represent the country on home soil and hopes to clinch another victory.

“We have all been looking forward to this summer and this tournament for some time now and the naming of the squad means it is almost here and we can’t wait to get out onto the field and give it everything to win this World Cup again,” she said. “I know how much winning in 2009 meant to the players and to Charlotte Edwards as captain, and being in the team under Heather Knight’s leadership for the 2017 ODI World Cup win was incredibly special.”

As she says, leading the team in a World Cup on home soil, among many passionate fans, is indeed an immense honor for any player. The only notable absentee due to a finger injury is Sarah Glenn. England has been drawn into Group B along with Ireland, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Scotland, and West Indies.
