Australia Would Have Dominated the Test Series Without Bumrah: Glenn McGrath

Australia Would Have Dominated the Test Series Without Bumrah: Glenn McGrathThe amazing fast bowler from Australia, Glenn McGrath, thinks that Jasprit Bumrah has been performing well in the current Border-Gavaskar 2024-2025 series, which has truly prevented Australia from getting far ahead.

India's team is losing 1-2 in the series because their batting is mostly not strong and they don't have strong plans. But, Bumrah has really been doing very well as the top bowler by taking 30 wickets with an amazing average of only 12.83.

"I'm a big fan of Jasprit Bumrah. He has been a massive part of the Indian Team. And without Bumrah, this Test series might have been more one sided. What he does is special"- McGrath shared with the media during a cancer awareness event organized by his foundation.

McGrath who was 54, was a fast bowler when he used to play. After his retirement, he started helping with cancer patients, because his wife died from it in 2008. He's been keeping an eye on the games and thinks Bumrah's skills are really great.

“He’s a terrific young guy who’s figured out how to adapt to conditions in matches. It’s amazing how he powers through those last few steps when he bowls,” McGrath said, admiring Bumrah’s short run-up.

McGrath also saw some similarities between Bumrah and himself, especially in the way they extended their bowling arms while releasing the ball.

“He has a bit of hyper-extension, something I used to have too. He handles it well and has incredible control. It looks like they’re managing him well. I’m a huge fan of Jasprit,” McGrath added, recalling how his teammates used to call him ‘Pigeon’ due to his thin legs.

McGrath has also worked with the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai and is impressed with the fast-bowling talent coming out of India. He’s particularly excited about Prasidh Krishna’s future.

“India, with its 1.4 billion people, has such a deep passion for cricket. I’ve been working with the MRF Pace Foundation for 12 years, and we have Prasidh Krishna, who’s in the squad. He’s a great young bowler, and I think he has a bright future ahead. There’s no shortage of talent not just bowlers, but also batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal. What’s great about these young players is their fearlessness while playing against big teams. We’ve got a guy like Sam Konstas, who’s similar,” McGrath said.
